Buttermilk Biscuits

Buttermilk Biscuits
Author: Butte Creek Mill
Serves: 2 dozen biscuits.
Ingredients
  • 2 cups Buttermilk Biscuit Mix
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 5 tablespoons shortening
Instructions
  1. Sift Biscuit Mix and soda; cut in shortening till mixture resembles course crumbs.
  2. Add buttermilk, all at once, and stiff till dough follows fork around the bowl.
  3. Turn out and knead 1/2 minute.
  4. Roll 3/8 inch thick; brush with salad oil; fold over and cut double biscuits.
  5. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in 450° oven 12 to 15 minutes.
