Multigrain Waffles with Nutritional Facts

Cooking Time: 30 minutes (overnight soaking of the seeds)


  • 4 cups butter milk
  • 4 cups Butter Creek Mill barley flour
  • 3 cups rye flour
  • 4 cups Butter Creek Mill oat flour
  • 3 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 2 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 tablespoon cane sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 2/3 cup (6 oz.) unsalted butter

Preparation Method

  1. Soak the poppy seeds in the buttermilk overnight.
  2. Preheat the waffle iron on medium heat.
  3. In a bowl, mix the barley flour, rye flour, oat flour, cane sugar, baking powder and sea salt. Set this dry mixture aside.
  4. In another bowl, whisk the eggs in the poppy seeds buttermilk mixture that you soaked for overnight.
  5. Then melt the butter and whisk it in the egg mixture.
  6. Now combine the dry and wet mixture together. Stir well to mix all the ingredients. This is your waffle batter.
  7. Pour approximately half a cup of the batter per waffle.
  8. Close the waffle iron and keep it pressed for a few minutes. Check after a while to see the color it has picked. Let it be in the iron till it picks up a golden color.
  9. Cool them for a while or serve them hot. It is up to you.
